"WoodRat — New Projects and Uses"

The WoodRat base has four drill points. Fortunately, this Dewalt model can use the outer two so all I have to do is to drill the holes completely through.

Turning the base over, I carefully countersink the two holes. I do this in very slight passes, testing with a screw as I go. I want the head to be totally beneath the surface, but with the countersink no deeper than is necessary.

I now firmly fasten the base plate to the router.

I try the mounted router on the WoodRat base with the aluminum channels installed. It is looking good.

I have just finished installing both of the clamps. They are a bit tricky but the manual illustration helps a lot.

Andrea is back and just in time. We are ready to put the WoodRat to the test — and make our first dovetailed box.

Andrea marks the drawer parts with the universal box symbols.

I also had her place a dot on the inside bottom to help her keep the proper orientation.

She removes the two aluminum guides strips. They are not used in dovetailing operations.

Andrea uses a square to line up the sliding base. She makes a line at that position.
