Well,
the Incra TS III fence system came in, so it was time to strip the old systems from the
table saw and move it to its new place. It looks rather "nude" all by itself.
That will soon change.
|
The Incra system arrived in 3 carefully
packed cartons. I started by opening each and checking to see the various pieces.
|
 |
 |
There are a myriad of parts. What
makes it nice is that each and every part is bagged, and each bag has a label describing
the bag's purpose. The one I start with is marked "Mounting Bracket Hardware
Pack." In addition to that, the Owner's Manual starts with a couple of pages which
show actual size drawings of every nut, bolt and washer. It is hard to make a mistake with
instructions this clear.
If there is one "error" in this manual, it is the statement that
says "In just about an hour or so..." It took me several hours. There are a lot
of steps and I wanted to do each one exactly.
|
The first step is to
attach 4 mounting brackets to the table saw. The instruction sheet shows ways for threaded
and unthreaded holes, and the parts packet includes a wide assortment of bolts. You attach
these finger tight.
|
 |
 |
Now I slide one of the two rails on the
mounting brackets. [Note: the exact steps are detailed very completely in the Owner's
Manual; I will only show the main steps along the way.]
|
Normally, you would extend the
extrusion some distance beyond the table saw top. In the case of the SuperStation, I will
be adding a sliding table on the left-hand side, so I positioned the rails flush to this
edge.
|
 |
 |
Setting the rail height is extremely
easy and accurate. I clamp one of the base pieces to hold the rail at the correct height
while I tighten the height adjusting bolts.
|
With my table saw, it was necessary to
remove the top to get to one of the bolt holes. With this bolt tightened, I could
reposition the table top. This also means that I had to do fine adjustment of the top to
be absolutely square to the blade.
