Elena and I will
tackle a new product this week — The Work Sharp -- Wood Tool Sharpener. The
name makes it rather easy to understand what the tool is supposed to do. I
like that.

I also like the double boxing. UPS and
other delivery agents do a great job getting products to me but not without
some bang ups and minor damage. We don't know yet but my guess is that the
product here is going to come out unscathed.

This is a "product shot" courtesy of the
manufacturer. It will be fun to find out what all the pieces do.

` Elena starts with the Instruction
Manual. It shouldn't take volumes, and it doesn't. The pages show us what is
included, what is optional, how to set it up and then how to use it. Great.

Check this out. They even included a chisel
that looks to be very sharp. There is no mention of it in the manual or on
their website, so I am just guessing that it is for practice and as a guide
of what is properly sharpened. It is a real nice touch.

Another nice touch is the DVD which is
chock full of demos and discussion of how to sharpen all shapes and varieties
of tools.

Elena is marking the position of the
four hold down areas. It may seem like an odd time to be mounting it —
before we have even tested it, but I am counting on it being a great shop
tool and therefore I want to make a tray for it. Partially I want to do this
to keep from getting any "glop" on my nice work table. I also have a lot of
white melamine particle core board, so I will mount it and make the area
oversize and trim it down after we figure out what works. With the discs and
glass plates, there are quite a few accessories that I want to keep
together and protected.
