New Product: "Bessey Utility Knife"

First thing Elena did this week was check out what I came back with from the local Woodcraft. It is a pretty known fact that I buy and collect woodworking things. This package had "Bessey"  logo on it, so I had to buy and find out why they would make a utility knife — and one that folds.

Well it is pretty snazzy looking and heavy, as in "well made" — or so it seems. The instructions were a little brief for my taste particularly in that there is a very sharp blade being adjusted.

I finally figured them out and practiced them. The arrow points to a point where you press in order to swing the blade down.

Once released, the blade swings down smoothly. You just have to keep in mind that your fingers should not get in the way.

It is all the way closed and there is not yet a drop of blood.

To change blades, all you have to do is swing this lever up and around.

Then the blade guard can be swung down.

Now, the blade can be removed.

There are extra blades in the handle.  I have a number of utility knives around the shop. Often I can find one. I do know that on one, the blade in-and-out mechanism is broken and another one I can't change blades. This one by Bessey is going to be easy to find. It will be in my carpenter's belt. (I know — I don't wear one, but it does sound impressive doesn't it?)
This is a different product for Bessey to make, but I am sure glad they do — it is a very good add to the shop.

Where to buy? I bought this one at my local Woodcraft Store, but I do not see it in any of the catalogs yet. I will post it here when I see it.
