For my first box, I decided to make one
15" by 24" by 6". If it comes out right it will be one of many such boxes
for drawers for a shop workbench.

Since the KatieJig says it can
make dovetail joints on any board thickness from ½ to 1-inch thick, I will use 1/2-inch
poplar....it is relatively inexpensive and a good, wood for this type use.
|
The instructions give two ways to do dovetails, and I chose option 1 that is suppose to be
the easier way. Using this method, I add ½-inch to the dimensions in both directions. The
excess pins and tails will be flush trimmed as the last step.

I mark and number each board exactly the way
they show in the instructions. It makes sense to do this the first couple of times through
the process.

As I observe throughout this presentation, it is nice to have instructions that are clear
and concise. When you are new to dovetail jigs, clear illustrations are a real plus.
