I sometimes wonder how I can get so
excited about a motor and a remote switch. But I am. This unit is a long
time coming (and a long time sitting on my "to do" pile).
But now I have un-boxed it and will try to make it pay for its
exalted position. We will be installing it in a Festool MFT table but all
the instructions here can apply to any table top.

|
The installation requires a Jessem Mast
- r--Lift and I have one but it is a rather old one and does not have some
of the features that more current ones have. Elena is reading the
installation sheet but, frankly, it is hard to figure out what it is saying.
That is probably because it is designed for a newer Mast-r-lift.
What saves the day is that t he router motor really went in in one
way.
|
Sal is holding the cord from the router
that gets plugged into the motor controller. It is larger than the 3/4"
holes in the table so he had to use a jigsaw to make one hole larger.

|
The picture on line shows this motor
controller mounted just under the table top. That's fine but we like the
idea of it above the table top so that you do not have to crouch under to
see the speed dial.
|
I had a replacement top of MDF with the
handy 22mm (3/4") holes. I ripped a piece off to serve as a fence. The
holes should be useful for mounting hold-downs.
|

|

|
Since this fence will be mainly for
using the bits for raised panel doors, I had Elena cut out a shape in the
fence that would allow those bits to swing freely.
|
I am a real fan of the Stots Dust Sucker
so I had Elena pencil in where this will sit. That way, she can attach short
pieces of MDF to the fence to use for clamping the fence in position.
|

|

|
She drills pocket holes to hold the base
in place.
|
She applies some yellow carpenters' glue
to the base edge.
|

|

|
She has placed a Kreg right angle clamp
in the middle hole. This allows her to position the piece exactly where she
wants it and screw pocket screws in the other holes. This right angle
clamp is a great add to the Kreg line.
|
You can see that we have added a few
right angle blocks to the fence. CA glue and few screws will keep them
in position and working.

 |
|
It has been about an hour in the making,
but we now have a fence that is solid and at right angles to the table. The
Stots Dust Sucker can be slid into position and clamped in place.
