"Making a Portable Clamp Rack"

It is always fun to see Andrea. She is full of life. The two of us will put together a rolling clamp rack. I am not much   on formal plans. A spare piece of white melamine board and a magic marker will suffice.

We started by taking a rough inventory of the panel clamps that we will rack. Andrea is laying out the stand using the 4 x 8 sheet worktable as a guide. The black racks are from Woodpeckers and measure 36" across. So that  will establish the width of the rack.

Here is the product shot from the Woodpecker website.     The racks are 36" wide. I would have preferred 24" but these are heavy steel and not something I am going to saw into.

She tries to visualize where different size clamps will go.

So we have a plan. We will make the uprights out of plain 2" x 4"s and use some 3/4" ply for gussets and some 1" x 3"s as cross braces.  Time for me to go get some 4" locking swivels and some 2 x 4's.
