KatieJig System - "It makes great dovetails and box joints."
This is not necessary, but I add a piece of scrap wood to the outside of each side to
prevent the boards from splintering.
(Note: when I first wrote this, I thought this step was not necessary but as I have
become expert, I find that an outside "backer" board prevents splintering. This
is especially necessary when using plywood and species that tend to splinter. I cover this
further in the last section: "Tips")
I now clamp this assembly together using two
sliding bar clamps.
And I can turn the assembly over and slide
it onto my bench mounted arm.
The clamps will rest on the arm itself. I use one additional clamp to hold this assembly
secure on the arm.
I will cut the pin board first. I use the router with the
straight bit and will follow the instructions and route from the opposite side of the
KatieJig. The direction of the router is from right to left and I use a series of light
passes rather than trying to remove too much wood at one time.
